Topic 1 Key Area of ImprovementLeadership ChallengesLeaders face challenge. Effective leaders have confidence in the strategies they are able to call upon when challenges arise. How to successfully deal with the challenges of leadership is something leaders often learn by trial and error, yet it forms a key part of the success or failure of your leadership journey. Too many women have a daily experience of survival in their leadership journey, rather than thriving relationships within their organisations. It’s not enough to be in a role or to sit at the table. You must also speak confidently, regardless of odds faced. Women leaders fear being ostracized or rejected; however, respect comes when your voice is heard. Make your presence known as a leader and collaborator. However, you have 2 ears and one mouth for a reason. Double the amount of listening and halve the amount of talking. Reflect on what you are hearing before you speak, let your words be fewer but weighty. When you speak it is worth others listening.Don’t deal with issues alone. Work with a coach, mentor or someone outside the organisation who is experienced. Loneliness in leadership is a choice. There are always people you can work with in the midst of challenge. Be pro-active in finding your allies, they may not be right in front of you, but they will be there.Topic 2 Key Area of ImprovementThe Internal Glass CeilingThe contents of your thoughts and fears hinder or help your progress. Your internal glass ceiling dictates how you see yourself. Your score in this area gives insight into the internal narrative you have. The Inner Glass Ceiling is the incessant self-talk going on in your head. Women internalise what’s going on around them and are more susceptible to patterns of overly critical selftalk; the need to be perfect, fear of not being good enough or of not being worthy. How we think determines our actions and behaviours. The negative self-talk often leads to fear, inaction and shying away from doing what it takes to achieve your potential and to be seen, heard and valued as a leader.Release the old patterns and the self-imposed, unconscious beliefs and replace them with new, empowering ones. This is literally changing what you say about yourself.Commit to not criticising yourself from today for 7 days. Don’t allow your brain OR mouth to say anything negative about yourself. Next time you receive praise, compliments or commendations of any kind, say thank you! Don’t brush them off and downplay your role, of course (if appropriate) recognise the contribution of others, but stop relegating your success to a lower level.Don’t internalise and take the negativity of the workplace personally, especially when it’s nothing to do with you. You are not the workplace sponge, soaking up the negativity.Self-doubt and lack of confidence are your biggest enemies that trigger the negative self-talk. Few women are raised to THINK BIG. So, the internal glass ceiling can cause limitations of what you are even willing to attempt, long before the self-doubt creeps up.Topic 3 Key Area of ImprovementConfidence & InfluenceConfidence and influence in the workplace can be learnt. Your score in this area gives insight into how much skill you have developed in this area.Your influence impacts on the behaviours, attitudes, opinions and choices of others. Don’t confuse this with power or control. It’s not about manipulating others to get your way. It’s about noticing what motivates employee commitment and using that knowledge to leverage performance and positive results. Your ability to have influence with others is based on trust; in fact, your influence expands in proportion to the amount of trust that exists in your relationships at work.We easily give away our power to those we think are wiser, stronger and cleverer than ourselves when often it’s not the case and we are underestimating ourselves. STOP DOING THIS. Share the results of your power and confidence, but don’t give it away. Know your strengths and celebrate yourself.Negative emotions such as disgust, self-loathing, disappointment or shame, will detract from your self-confidence. Your leadership is not a solo act. If you want to influence others, they have to be involved. Seek input on important decisions that will affect them individually or the team as a whole. Involve others early on when proposing or implementing changes.Build connections with others. Seek to understand the needs, motivations, and values of others. By showing a sincere commitment to what matters to someone else you’ll begin to build greater influence with them as they realize your actions include a genuine concern for their interests.Topic 4 Key Area of ImprovementGap between professional competence and confidenceYou are likely to be well qualified and competent in your role, this qualifies you to sit at the leadership table. However, your score in this area will indicate if your level of confidence matches your level of qualification and competence. You need to be trained in holding staff to account, managing colleagues who are passive aggressive, managing up and working with senior leaders. You need to be adept in creating healthy workplace cultures where colleagues feel psychologically safe to discuss their mistakes with you. 5 common mistakes to avoid for handling the difficult conversation that hinders your leadership.Error 1: “How is it going?” & “How do you think it went?” - No one likes disrespectful openings to a conversation but neither do they respond warmly to someone with a hidden agenda.Error 2: Compliment, message, compliment - Praise is for a separate conversation and not a lead in for a difficult conversation. We have an obligation to provide clear and direct messages. Colleagues need to know how/what they are doing and what is required of them.Error 3: Too many pillows - Softening the message means the message gets lost altogether. Replace pillows with clear requests and be succinct.Error 4: Clinging to the script – Don’t script what others might say , they may respond differently. Have your framework, but be ready for curveballs.Error 5: Machine gun – Firing off your message and then abruptly cutting the meeting short is offensive, even if you are terrified of the other person’s response. When you hurl and bolt, you damage the relationship.Call to Action - ChallengeJust like most leaders, I struggled with aspects of leadership until I got coaching and this changed everything. It is your time to take action and make a change.Do you …Desire to move into your next level of greatness as a female leader?Desire to own your status as a competent and confident leader in your workplace?Want to learn the secrets to impactful female leadership?Want to have 3 days of connection, clarity, and confidence? Then join me on my FREE 3 Day Transformational Leadership Challenge.Having completed the scorecard, you are now qualified to secure your place on the 3 day event that will change everything.Click here for more information and join us for the event that is £895 in value but totally FREE to you right now.Call to Action - Book TRANSFORM YOUR LEADERSHIP, BE A SELF ASSURED AND CONFIDENT LEADERAre you dealing with challenges at work and feel stuck ?Do you flip flop between feelings of ‘I can do this - I can’t do this’ ?
